Have you heard of the keto diet? If not, you may soon. Recently, the keto diet has been gaining in popularity with people all over the world. This diet has actually been around for some time, but recently has gained in popularity because of late-night talk shows, magazines, and even celebrities talking about it on their shows! The keto diet has the ability to not only help you lose weight, but also to help you maintain that weight for as long as you’re eating the diet!
Basically, the keto diet is a well-balanced, high-fiber, low-carb diet which in traditional medicine is often used primarily to treat children who have seizures. However, the diet forces your body to use fat instead of carbohydrates for energy. This can drastically reduce or even eliminate the healthful fats that you should be eating in order to maintain your health and weight. There are several foods that are rich in good (not bad) carbohydrates, but which are also fat-burners: fruits, vegetables, legumes (like beans), nuts, and other healthy fats.
These are just some good examples of what you should be putting into your body if you’re going on the keto diet. Of course, as stated above, this is mainly a high-fiber diet, and you should make sure that you are consuming lots of fiber because not everyone is able to completely avoid grains and potatoes, which are both high in carbohydrates. However, by including as many healthy fats and carbohydrates as possible, you will be able to successfully lose weight and keep it off.
